Australian soldiers wore Rising Sun badges on the up-turned side of their slouch hats and on the collars of their tunics. The badges worn during the First World War were inscribed with the words “Australian Commonwealth Military Forces”.

Rising Sun badges were first issued to Australian soldiers in 1902 and continue to be worn by serving personnel today.
